A Comparator-Based Switched-Capacitor Delta Sigma Modulator
نویسندگان
چکیده
Comparator-Based Switched-Capacitor (CBSC) is a relatively new topology that replaces opamps in sampled-data systems with a comparator and a set of current mirrors. CBSC is expected to lower power consumption, and to avoid several delicate tradeoffs of op-amp circuits. In this paper, the original single-ended CBSC block is extended to a fully differential version. The differential CBSC is then applied to an industrial standard second order delta-sigma modulator originally based on op-amps. Due to the differences between CBSC and op-amp, a few architectural changes are necessary for the original modulator. Finally, the performance of transistor level simulation of this CBSC based modulator is evaluated. A Study to Realize a 1-V Operational Passive Σ-Δ Modulator by Using a 90 nm CMOS Process
A 1-V operational sigma-delta modulator with a second-order passive switched capacitor filter is designed and fabricated by using a 90 nm CMOS process. No gate-voltage bootstrapped scheme is adopted to drive analog switches, and the voltage gain of a comparator is chosen to be 94 dB. The experimental results show that the peak SNR reached 68.9 dB with a frequency bandwidth of 40 kHz when the cl...
متن کاملComparator-Based Switched-Capacitor Delta-Sigma Modulation
In order to eliminate the use of operational amplifiers (opamps) in sampled-data systems and thus avoid several delicate tradeoffs involved with their design, a new class of switched-capacitor circuits based on comparators was reported. The novelty of this comparator-based switched-capacitor (CBSC) design method is the detection of a virtual ground condition rather than forcing it through feedb...
متن کاملA Near 1-V Operational, 0.18-µm CMOS Passive Sigma-Delta Modulator with 77 dB of Dyanamic Range
A low-voltage operational capability near 1 V along with low noise and distortion characteristics have been realized in a passive sigma-delta modulator. To achieve low-voltage operation, the dc voltage in signal paths in the switched-capacitor-filter section was set to be 0.2 V so that sufficient gate-to-source voltages were obtained for metal-oxidesemiconductor (MOS) switches in signal paths w...
